Criminal Archetypes Edit

The Artist Edit

Enigmatic, suave or cheesy are terms used to commonly describe this type of rogue. Infamy and renown is more important for this criminal than the simple cash he makes with his schemes. These types generally avoid combat, although will have a blade for show. Cockiness is definitely on the agenda and they are never too tired to flaunt there success. They are quite confident and will wager much to show off their skills.

Attire:
Clothing will probably be overblown, well fashioned and have a slight uniqueness to it.
Place in an organisation:
They almost always work alone. They are quite rare in organisations because of their low level of being able to work with others, their low interest in money and their skills being mostly used for soloist’s crime. Most organisations will only have a few Artist members and they serve as advisors or leaders for schemes around thievery and kidnapping.
Exemplary schemes:
Because they usually work as a soloist and find prestige a much higher reward for their work these fellows tend to pull of jobs that would seem too crazy or too risky. Stealing items from heavy guarded persons or places; or conning intellectuals or fellow Artists.

The Young and Brash Edit

Cocky, impetuous and highly ambitious. They crave for a upstanding place in the underworld. Always flashing weapons at sign of danger, they try to appear as mastermind criminals. Their mannerisms suggest they are confident, although this is stemmed from the true fear they hold. Often they will try to intimidate entire organisations on their own, usually leading to their downfall. Their true advantage is their unpredictability, with a firearm their zealousness has scared off a few foes.

Attire:
Masks, long capes, large intimidating weapons, firearms and assassin or bandit like armour (e.g. defias set).

Place in an organisation:
They will gladly take on jobs offered by respected underworld figures (though they will not show it) and see this as opportunities to become respected crime lords. Even in an organisation they work alone most of the time, though they’d rather be working as leader of a gang.

Exemplary schemes:
Mugging is the top most favourite crime of the Y&B; here he can show his talent for crime and his roguish outfit. When in a gang these guys will plan robberies or kidnappings (although not as proper as Con Artists) and any other more public crime.

The Rascal Edit

Witty, fast thinking and slight naivety expressed. Although many of these shine through and hold a tactical mind which is hard to see at first gaze.
They tend to do the low risk jobs, especially compared to the Artist and are keen to keep silent about their crimes and prefer no one to know what they are up to. Even though they commit mostly ‘common crime’, their skills are quite adequate. Because of their more wide range of crimes they are usually skilled in more then one area. They don’t mind getting their hands dirty in a fight, but will still rather opt for another solution.

Attire:
Random clothing, usually lacking a sense of uniformity they will portray a poor appearance. This occasionally inspires pity in the victims and allows them to be 'allowed' to con them.

Place in an organisation:
A good crime lord knows that these guys are the key to a good working operation for they are far less driven by ambition and prestige. Rascals are usually so involved in their work they have little time for leading a group, this leads them to either work alone or in pairs or work in a gang lead by a Mastermind.

Exemplary schemes:
These guys tend to work on the background. Money is their motivator. If there is a slight profit available to them you can be sure they will be into it. Whether it’s knocked off merchandise, pick pocketing or forgery, they are generally the ones behind it.

The Con Artist Edit

Money, again, is the way to go. Always changing names, identity, clothing and location to suit the next scam they have the more rewarding job. Their work requires time to plan and execute and therefore they mostly focus on the better rewarding schemes. They have adequate people skills and can talk their way out of most things. They work alone or in small groups. They shun from violence and are not more than average fighters. They usually keep a good account of schemes they pulled off in fear of slipping up. In organisations

Attire:
Constantly changing. Depends on the person or character they try to impersonate.

Place in an organisation:
They are usually hired, as outsiders, to plan out bigger cons or provide fake identities. Whenever they joined a criminal organisation they will also be relied on to plan heists, robberies etc. as well as actually help carry out the job, though they are only given the easiest of tasks. Also because of their knowledge of customs they accompany masterminds on making deals and can be expected to provide fronts or cover-ups for the organisation.

Exemplary schemes:
Selling fake merchandise, impersonating a trustworthy person, forgery or setting up dummy corporations as long as it can provide a more than average income on a short till medium long run they are in.

The Mastermind Edit

Masterminds are confident, have a calm attitude and an aura of wisdom. These are usually the ones that keep their hands clean and rely on underlings to take the blame if needed. Paranoia goes hand in hand with these criminal leaders. If they don’t control the situation you can be sure they will make any attempt to gain control of it. They have their business side which allows them to block out emotion. Holding respect is essential for successfully holding power. This may lead to them appearing uncaring and evil. Masterminds are almost always lead figures and usually origin from a previous type and possess many of those traits.

Attire:
Well groomed and often in tuxedos or other luxurious clothing. They usually carry small arms, most likely well covered. (e.g. a hidden dagger)

Place in an organisation:
These guys either lead the organisation or are advisors or gang leaders. They provide jobs for the lower gang members and make deals with outside contractors or ‘customers’.

Exemplary schemes:
Even though they don’t like to get their hands dirty they will not mind filling key positions for a job, most likely those that fit their previous archetype, especially in small gangs. They always take a leading position and make sure everyone understands his/her job. Without a crew this type is pretty much useless and will resort to his previous archetype’s skills and schemes.
